Plant quarterback Phillip Ely surprised many at his press conference with a commitment to Alabama. Ely had played his recruitment close to the vest and chose the Crimson Tide over Notre Dame, Clemson, and LSU.
As expected team mate Tony Posada announced his decision for Michigan. Texas Tech and hometown USF were also in the mix.
National prospect and Scout.com's #1 outside linebacker James Wilder will have his announcement next Wednesday. He is choosing between Florida State, Florida, and Georgia.

Some of the more interesting news to come in recently was Penn State offering Park Vista's Tre Mason. Mason is a stud RB so getting an offer is not news, but the Nittany Lion's rarely offer players in Florida. PSU joins Rutgers, WVU, and Ole Miss as favorites. He has high interest in Florida and Georgia as well.
South Lake corner Nick Waisome will also be announcing on the 18th and is expected to choose between Florida, FSU, South Carolina, Georgia, and LSU. The Gator's appear to be the team to beat.
Has Mike Bellamy opened things up? Some public comments suggest that he has. Clemson is still in the lead, but the Big three are trying to work themselves into the game.
Jefferson linebacker Ramik Wilson is down to six schools: Texas Tech, Purdue, Arkansas, Minnesota, Georgia, and Rutgers. He has had contact with each of the Florida schools and could see some offers there down the road.
Naples defensive back Lucas Foreman has offers from West Virginia, Maryland, and Kansas with several other schools watching closely. At 6'3 he could play either Safety or LB at the next level.
Another Pensacola Catholic player has D-1 offers, WR/DB Chris Milton has Iowa State and Northern Illinois. The Crusader's should have six players sign national letters of intent.
Lake Gibson's Errin Joe is expected to take visits. FSU, UF, Miami, Duke, Stanford, Georgia Tech, Missouri, and West Virginia seem to be jockeying to get into position for an official.
Florida Air Academy's J.J. Keels has heavy interest from Vanderbilt and Cincinnati. The dynamic athlete was one of the top performer's in the state at various combines.
Glades Central's Kelvin Benjamin was a Miami lean, then he was a UF lean, now the Noles have made a move for the special talent. West Virginia, USC, and Michigan are on the outside looking in.
We are coming upon September 1st which will be the first day that 2012 players can get official offers. Some players that are expected to attract plenty of attention are:
John Theus, Travares Copeland, Matt Jones, Nelson Agholor, Dante Fowler, Amos Leggett, Ricardo Louis, Angelo Jean-Louis, Avery Johnson, Brian Poole, Tracy Howard, Latroy Pittman, Eddie Williams, P.J. Williams, and Travis Blanks.
