Pre-Spring Florida Top 100: 91-100

Pre-Spring Florida Top 100: 91-100

We are only a little over a month away from Spring ball, with most of the camps and combines behind us as well as junior film, here is a pre-Spring top 100 from the Sunshine State.

91. LaQuentin Smith

Position, School: Safety, Orlando Dr. Phillips

Height, Weight: 6'2, 195

Offers: Michigan, South Carolina, Illinois, Central Florida

Analysis: With no fewer than five D-1 2011 prospects Dr. Phillips will have high expectations in 2010. Smith will play alongside heralded Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix to form what has to be the top Safety tandem in the country. Smith plays the game physically and is big enough to perhaps grow into a LB. This is a player that should see significant BCS interest.

92. J.J. Keels

Position, School: RB/WR, Florida Air Academy

Height, Weight: 5'9, 175

Highlights: none

Offers: Duke, Florida International

Analysis: Keels has put together some terrific combine performances showing he is every bit as good of athlete as anyone in the state. Keels ran for over 1,800 yards and 23 touchdowns as a junior. The issue is that he plays small class football and lacks ideal size(legit 5'9, 175). He is a player that schools will want to see live, those that do will leave impressed.

93. Chris Moore

Position, School: WR, Tampa Jefferson

Height,Weight: 6'1, 170

Offers: None reported

Analysis: Moore plays with a loaded junior class at Jefferson, that class led them to the state semi-finals in 3A. Moore is one of the top route runners in the state, he possesses good size, and has enough speed to get separation. Moore has plenty of room to fill out physically and is poised for a huge senior season with Quentin Williams returning at QB.

94. Elkino Watson

Position, School: DT, Miami Booker T. Washington

Height, Weight: 6'3, 260

Offers: Georgia Tech, Duke, Central Florida, Florida International

Analysis: DT is one of the toughest positions in the state to recruit and Watson is a big body that can move. He is clearly a BCS prospect and has the versatility to play on either side of the ball. Watson has some work to do technique wise, but he could emerge from Spring with over 10 offers because of his athleticism. He is a player with the potential to rise up this list throughout the year.

95. Corian Hamilton

Position, School: Safety, Orlando Olympia

Height, Weight: 6'1, 210

Highlights: none

Offers: Maryland, Michigan State, Rutgers

Analysis: Hamilton has a terrific frame to work with at over 6'0 and 200 pounds. He has had 17 interceptions over the last two years displaying the type of range and ball skills highly coveted on the recruiting trail. Sitting on three BCS offers, Hamilton should add to that total in the Spring.

96. Hunter Joyer

Position, School: Fullback, Tampa Catholic

Height, Weight: 6'0, 245

Offers: Stanford, Louisville

Analysis: Big, strong, tough, Joyer is athletic enough to play LB, but it is as a FB that his ceiling resides. He should excel in goal line situations both as a lead blocker and as a runner. Don't sleep on his running ability, he can get yards with his feet. Joyer does not play the 'sexiest' position on the recruiting trail, but he is an excellent prospect at that spot.

97. John Harris

Position, School: Defensive End, Boynton Beach

Height, Weight: 6'4, 220

Highlights: None

Offers: South Carolina

Analysis: Harris has the type of frame at 6'4 to really add some strength over the next few years. He has the athleticism to be a difference maker and showed flashes last season with eight sacks. He could be one of the fastest rising players over the next several months.

98. Larry Franklin

Position, School: Safety, Vero Beach

Height, Weight: 6'2, 185

Offers: None Reported

Analysis: Franklin carries the reputation as a hitter and his highlight film shows that. He earned All Area honors and possesses the type of size that should garner BCS attention this Spring. With team mate Marcus Jackson(commit to Miami) and at least three other D-1 prospects, Vero should see plenty of traffic in the ensuing months.

99. Devin Clarke

Position, School: Wide Receiver, Sebring

Height, Weight: 5'11, 165

Offers: Tennessee, North Carolina, Texas Tech, Louisville, South Florida

Analysis: Clarke has had back to back 1,000 yard seasons as a WR and is a big time contributor on special teams. He is one of those players that simply makes plays with the ball in his hands. He is intriguing as a potential DB prospect due to his overall athletic package.

100. Khambrel Garland

Position, School: Safety, St. Thomas Aquinas

Height, Weight: 6'0, 180

Highlights: None

Offers: None reported

Analysis: Garland played his junior year at Deerfield Beach, but has now transfered to St. Thomas. STA sent DBs to each of the Big 3 last year, Garland and Roberson appear to be the foundation in 2010. He has everything you look for in a BCS Safety prospect and the offers should come in quickly this Spring. Recommended Stories
