Louisiana's Ragin'Cajuns men's basketball program announced the signings of Keith McDougald and Jeffrey Reese Wednesday.
McDougald is a product of Bishop Kenny High School in Jacksonville. An honorable mention all-city pick as a junior, he averaged nearly 15 points per game, six rebounds, four assists and two steals per game.
McDougald earned all-state honors in Class 4A and was second team all-city pick during his sophomore campaign. He also picked up all-city honors his freshman season.
He made headlines last summer playing for Nike Team
Florida
- an AAU team - helping the team win four tournaments and leading them to a 38-7 record. At the Duel in the Desert in Phoenix, McDougald took home MVP honors. He finished with 21 points in the title game.
McDougald is rated as one of the Top 20 prospects in Florida. ESPN's College Basketball Recruiting Page listed McDougald as "a strong and physical combination wing that can score in a variety of ways."
Reese is currently in his sophomore season at Gulf Coast Community College in Panama City, Fla. He prepped at Laurel Hill High School in Florida.
At LHHS, Reese was the Northwest Florida Daily News' 2008 small school area player of the year as a senior. His stat line included 23.6 points per game, 10.2 rebounds per game, 3.1 assists per game, 3.7 steals and 4.0 blocked shots per game.
This season at GCCC Reese's production is expected to increase. Last season he played behind two NCAA Division I singees - one of which was his older brother Brad.
Through three games this season, Reese is averaging 10.3 points per game and has already registered double figures twice. A 6-foot-4 guard, he's shooting 11-of-20 (55%), averaging four rebounds per game and has five steals and four blocks.
