Northwestern knocked off Central on Thursday night to get week 6 started, here are some other scores of key games around the state.

DADE

Northwestern beat Central 22-14 in front of a national audience on ESPN2. Teddy Bridgewater hooked up with Michaelee Harris for several big plays in the second half, including two TD's.

Southridge held off Homestead 14-7 in District 6A-16.

BROWARD

South Broward scored two late touchdowns, the second a 71 yard punt return by Kevin Grooms, and defeated McArthur 27-26.

Douglas downed Taravella 13-12 while Deerfield Beach beat Northeast 27-6 in District 6A-9.

PALM BEACH

Atlantic scored twice in the closing minutes, the second a 71 yard INT return by James Louis, to slip by Park Vista 47-36.

Glades Central beat Boca Raton 44-7 behind QB L.J. Thomas's 391 yards passing.

Jupiter Christian plays Saturday at 6:00 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

SOUTHWEST FLORIDA

Manatee moved to 5-0 and got their first District win by beating Sarasota 35-20.

Cape Coral 2, Naples 0 in District 4A-12. Ida Baker went to 6-0 on the year with a 48-7 win over Gulf Coast. Cape Coral handled Palmetto Ridge 24-14.

TAMPA

Tampa Bay Tech opened district play with a 21-3 win over Freedom.

Plant rolled Gaither 49-0 and Armwood handled King 49-3.

ORLANDO

Dr.Phillips pounded district rival Boone 47-9 behind 331 total yards by Demetrius Hart. The Panthers may find themselves ranked #1 in 6A.

Apopka improved to 6-0 with a 40-7 win over West Orange.

JACKSONVILLE

Jackson remained unbeaten with a 30-0 win over Terry Parker. Bolles joined them with a 55-6 win over University Christian.

Columbia held off Ridgeview 40-28 in District 4A-4.

Fleming Island racked up 553 yards of offense in a 42-21 win over Seabreeze.

EAST COAST

Palm Bay moved to 5-1 with 38-0 win over Viera.

Jensen Beach defeated Titusville 23-7 in a key District 3A-13 game.

PANHANDLE

Lincoln moved to 4-1 with a 42-22 win over Wakulla.

Godby scored the first 21 points, then held off Madison County for the 21-14 win.
