St. Thomas takes over the number 1 spot after a thrilling victory over Byrnes, Northwestern was upset by Booker T. Washington, five weeks are now in the books, here is the SunStateFootball top 25.

1. ST. THOMAS AQUINAS RAIDERS (4-0, 5A)

WINS: at Upper Arlington(OH) 52-7, Boyd Anderson 46-6, at Cardinal Gibbons 35-7, Byrnes 42-34

NEXT GAME: at Nova

REASON FOR TOP 10: The Raiders showed they might be the best team in the country with an impressive win over Byrnes. Virtually a lock to get to Orlando.

2. MIAMI CENTRAL ROCKETS (5-0, 6A)

WINS: at Mainland 34-3, at Killian 32-0, at Miami Beach 63-0, at Miami Springs 70-24, at Carol City 36-0

NEXT GAME: vs. #6 Northwestern

REASON FOR TOP 10: Simply throttling the competition right now, scoring at will, and the defense is vastly improved from last year.

3. MIAMI BOOKER T. WASHINGTON TORNADOES (4-0, 3A)

WINS: at Killian 40-16, Carol City 35-22, at Coral Gables 36-0, Northwestern 35-28

NEXT GAME: at Key West

REASON FOR TOP 10: Surprising win over Northwestern puts the Tornadoes as the clear favorite in 3A.

4. BOLLES BULLDOGS (4-0, 2B)

WINS: at Archbishop Carroll 47-0, at American Heritage 42-6, Interlachen 70-9, Fernandina Beach 65-0

NEXT GAME: at University Christian

REASON FOR TOP 10: The Defending State Champs have outscored opponents 224-15 thus far, extremely well coached team that has plenty of raw talent.

5. LAKELAND DREADNAUGHTS (4-0, 5A)

WINS: at Winter Haven 28-0, Tenoroc 60-0, at De La Salle(CA) 31-30, Plantation 46-14

NEXT GAME: vs. Bayside

REASON FOR TOP 10: High quality out of state win in California, came right back and beat a good Plantation team.

6. MIAMI NORTHWESTERN BULLS (3-1, 6A)

WINS: at Carol City 27-6, Hialeah 42-20, Hialeah-Miami Lakes 54-23

LOSS: #3 Booker T. Washington 35-28

NEXT GAME: vs. #2 Miami Central

REASON FOR TOP 10: Won of two of last three state titles, played for the third. Suffered a loss last week and now have state's #2 Central to play on five days rest. The Bulls will have to dig deep this week.

7. DR. PHILLIPS PANTHERS (4-0, 6A)

WINS: at Edgewater 24-0, at Osceola 9-0, Olympia 27-20, Cypress Creek 35-0

NEXT GAME: at Boone

REASON FOR TOP 10: Appear to be Orlando's most complete team, they can rely on a very stout defense. Offense should come around later in the year.

8. CHARLOTTE TARPONS (5-0, 4A)

WINS: at North Port 69-13, Riverdale 42-6, at Mariner 49-7, Desoto County 48-7, Ft. Myers 56-6

NEXT GAME: vs. Palmetto

REASON FOR TOP 10: The offense is rolling with Midgett and Bellamy, but take a look at that defense......better than advertised. Is this the favorite in 4A?

9. MANATEE HURRICANES (4-0, 5A)

WINS: Bayshore 45-0, at Palmetto 35-3, Southeast 30-26, at Lakewood Ranch 35-14

REASON FOR TOP 10: Solid all around team with consistent offense and chance that offense can explode at any time.

REASON FOR TOP 10: Win over Dwyer looks better every week. Appear to be the favorite in 2A at this point.
