SunStateFootball.com's Take: Lo Wood

Lo Wood was long rumored to be headed to Michigan with two other Orlando Area current Michigan commits, Ricardo Miller and Marvin Robinson. That changed in the Spring when he visited Notre Dame and started leaning that way. He is now a committed to ND and SunStateFootball examines the impact of that commit.

FOR NOTRE DAME:

Notre Dame picks up one of most skilled CB's from the Sunshine State. A pure corner who is ahead of the curve, Wood has the opportunity to see the field early in his career. Lo will hit from his corner spot and is capable of excelling in both zone and man schemes. Wood is more quick than fast and has above average size for a CB prospect. Due to extensive playing time at CB, Wood has a tremendous feel for the position. He plays for one of the top programs in the Orlando Area and is a solid student in the classroom with over a 3.0 GPA.

RECRUITS THIS IMPACTS:

Three other Florida CB's are being recruited by ND. Two with offers, Spencer Boyd and Cody Riggs, and one without an offer, Jeremi Wilkes. Riggs and Boyd are both rumored to be leaning to the Irish and would be an interesting trifecta to land. Riggs is as skilled as Wood, but presents a little more physical upside in the speed department, albeit shorter. Boyd is an outstanding football player who has played more RB than DB, however his willingness to hit and his natural play-making ability project well to CB and he has shown the ability to be a lockdown CB at various camps/combines. Georgia is a factor for both.

WHAT IS NEXT FOR MICHIGAN

Michigan has one CB commit in Courtney Avery from Ohio and is also recruiting Boyd, as well as Florida corners Eric Mitchell, Rashad Knight, Tony Grimes, and Travis Williams. There are plenty of options available for the Wolverines and if you told Rodriguez a year ago he would land two of Ricardo Miller, Marvin Robinson, and Wood...he would have taken it. Keep an eye on Mitchell, the talented athlete from Mariner on Cape Coral, he has the potential to be as good as anyone. Ole Miss holds a lead right now, but he has not been to Michigan yet. Local product Dior Mathis comes from a Michigan friendly high school that sent big-time team mate William Campbell to Ann Arbor last year.
