Bracewell Enjoys Trip

One of the top signal callers in the Sunshine State is Nick Bracewell who is from Mayo (Lafayette High School). Last year, Lafayette sent Jamal Reid to the University of Miami and Nick has the potential to be that type of recruit. At 6'3 and over 200 pounds, Bracewell has that prototype build with the big arm.

SunStateFootball.com caught up with Nick Bracewell after he took some unofficial visits over the weekend.

"I went up to Duke, North Carolina, and Tennessee last weekend to get a feel for the types of schools they are and to meet some of the coaches. It went really well, they are very impressive schools." Bracewell is a thrower, one some people might term 'old school' with the proliferation of spread based offenses in college football.

How does he break down the schools:

Duke: 'The academics are awesome, the campus was beautiful. I met with Ethan Johnson and was able to watch a practice. I like what they were doing on the practice field and can see myself fitting in there."

UNC: "I went to North Carolina where I met with Marcus Berry and the RC. It is a bigger school than Duke, they have great facilities, and I really liked the coaching staff, they are only getting better year after year."

Tennessee: "I met with Coach Reid and Coach Chaney. Knoxville was a great town that was bigger than I thought. You can just feel the support as you get near and into Knoxville. It is big-time college football, they take things very serious and you can see that with the facilities which were incredible."

What is it that will be the most important thing to him? "I think all three have offenses where I fit into what they are trying to do, that is really the most important thing to me. There was nothing not to like at any of them, I can see myself at each." Bracewell will be one of the most heavily evaluated players this Spring, largely a result of playing in a low population area at a small school, "That does not bother me, I just play football, Jamal went to the UnderArmour Game last year and excelled, I feel I can do the same thing."

Are there any other schools that interest him, "I grew up a Florida State fan, but I have not heard much from them yet. UCF and Arkansas are two more schools that I like a lot and they are recruiting me." Bracewell led Team Jacksonville to some big wins in the Tampa 7on7 with his accurate arm and will have a few more chances to shine before Spring football starts. He will going to the Elite 11 Camp in Athens, Georgia and Nike Training Camp in Tallahassee this weekend. He plans on hitting several University Camps this summer.

Nick was the 42nd ranked prospect on the Florida Pre-Spring Hot 100.
