A great night of games across the state. Some upsets were the story of the night as Mainland, Venice, Glades Central, and Atlantic all went down. A number of teams survived close games.

MIRAMAR AT DEERFIELD BEACH

Miami Northwestern vs. Miami Central(SAT)

Miami Killian 27 Miami Palmetto 6

WHAT HAPPENED: Boone revenged an earlier defeat to Dr. Phillips. Miramar did the same to Cypress Bay. Deerfield Beach, Killian, Apopka, and Seminole took care of business. Time to start talking about Royal Palm Beach as a potential state championship team. We eagerly await the result of the Saturday night game between Miami Central and Miami Northwestern, the winner gets a slugfest with Miami Killian.

Orange Park 21 Mainland 20

SOUTH FORK AT ST THOMAS

WHAT HAPPENED: Pine Forest beat Niceville for a second time in another thriller. Orange Park upset Mainland. District runner ups Charlotte and South Fork revenged earlier losses. St. Thomas continued to roll. Largo, Lakeland, and Chamberlain have a combined two losses and all advanced. Some heavyweights fell here, the question remains can anyone beat St. Thomas? South Fork gets the next shot.

WHAT HAPPENED: Seabreeze pulled a minor upset of Merritt Island, otherwise this bracket went as expected. Plant vs. Armwood re-match will be much anticipated. This is a class with four great games next weekend, all should be very competitive.

NAPLES AT MONSIGNOR PACE

WHAT HAPPENED: 8 district champions are alive in 3A. Naples/Dunbar was a fantastic game. Pace pulls the upset of previously unbeaten Glades Central. Pace beat Naples in Naples in week one. St. Augustine vs. Godby should be a heck of a ball game. Cocoa continues to be the team that no one talks about, they just win. If you were not thinking about Pasco, you should now after the 50-0 clubbing of one loss Gulf.

2A

Madison County 35 Pensacola Catholic 28

Bolles 57 South Sumter 7

BOLLES AT MADISON COUNTY

Tampa Catholic 10 Mulberry 0

Gulliver 47 Archbishop Carroll 30

GULLIVER AT TAMPA CATHOLIC

WHAT HAPPENED: These should be two highly competitive semi-final games. Madison County had to fight a tough, under rated Pensacola Catholic team. Bolles is putting some points on the board, can they do it at Boot Hill? Gulliver beat a very good Archbishop Carroll team and now will get a stern test from Tampa Catholic on the road.

Florida High 48 South Walton 7

Ocala Trinity Catholic 27 Newberry 17

OCALA TRINITY CATHOLIC AT FLORIDA HIGH
