Through the first five weeks of the 2005 high school football season, you will see that there have been several changes made. Each week, there are more and more upsets. Is your favorite team listed this week?
JACKSONVILLE –
Lakeland continues to have a strong-hold on the top spot of the Beef 'O' Brady's Top 25 all classification football poll.
The Dreadnaughts, riding a 20-game winning streak, received fourteen of fifteen first-place votes. Jacksonville Bolles (2A) is still second, but only by two points to third-place St. Thomas Aquinas (5A) of Fort Lauderdale. Miami Washington (4A) is fourth followed by Miami Central (6A).
There was very little movement in the poll, although Madison County (2A) cracked the top 10 after a win over then-#10 Mainland (5A, Daytona Beach), which fell to #22. Armwood (4A, Seffner) is #11, followed by Glades Central (3A, Belle Glade) and East Ridge (6A, Clermont) tied for twelfth. Niceville (5A) moved to 14th and St. Augustine (3A) is 15th.
Hollywood Hills breaks into the Top 25 at #25. The Chargers are undefeated with a district showdown with St. Thomas Aquinas looming on the horizon. Jefferson (4A, Tampa) fell out of the Top 25 after losing for the second straight week, this time to Hillsborough.
The Beef 'O' Brady's Top 25 is compiled by Youth Sports Marketing LLC and is voted on by sportswriters and sportscasters who cover high school football in Florida.
