FEATS OF THE WEEK: The Ohio prep football season started with a bang at the Skyline Chili Crosstown Showdown in Cincinnati. Seven games were played over three days, highlighted by No. 7 Cincinnati, Colerain's 21-3 defeat of two-time defending state champion Elder. Regionally ranked Lakewood, St. Edward also won 23-17 over then-regionally ranked Cincinnati, St. Xavier. About 20,000 fans attended the games, which took place at the University of Cincinnati's Nippert Stadium.

Regionally ranked Durham, N.C., Southern used an inspired defensive effort to defeat Durham, Northern, 14-0. It was the Spartans' first win against their crosstown rival since 1973. Northern still leads the all-time series 37-4.

Buford, Ga., won its state record-tying 46th consecutive game, 41-7, over Dahlonega, Lumpkin County. The Wolves' winning streak matches the one compiled by Lilburn, Parkview from 2000-2003.

Wylie, Texas, defeated San Diego, Mira Mesa, 27-10, at the East Texas Classic in Tyler. It was a rare intersectional matchup between the two football-rich states.
