Bingham, Maine, Valley rallied from 18 points down in the fourth quarter to defeat Yarmouth, North Yarmouth Academy, 70-68, for the Cavaliers' 41st straight win. Valley was led by guard Mark Gaudet, who scored 23 of his game-high 44 points during the fourth-quarter comeback.

No. 4 Los Angeles, Westchester defeated No. 15-ranked Western League rival Fairfax, 63-55, a few days after learning its appeal to the California Interscholastic Federation to regain postseason eligibility was denied. The two-time defending Division I state champ Comets are being sanctioned for allegedly recruiting 6-9 junior center Amir Johnson away from a rival school. Johnson has been suspended for one year because of the incident.

No. 14 Bronx, N.Y., St. Raymond's defeated a short-handed No. 11 Mount Vernon, 61-60, in the Tom Crotty Memorial Classic at St. John's University. The Knights were without the services of Pittsburgh-bound guard Keith Benjamin, who injured his ankle in pre-game warm-ups.
