National Prep Basketball Poll - Week 4

Orlando Edgewater, Florida Air Academy and Oviedo are among the Florida schools rated nationally this week.

The National Prep Basketball Poll is compiled by national high school sports experts Jamie DeMoney and Jeremy Plowman and a panel of sportswriters. The national Top 25 and regional Top 10's follow with won-loss records:

#1. Mouth of Wilson, Va., Oak Hill (16-0), thumped two Top 10 teams in winning Iolani Prep Classic in Honolulu

#2. Aurora, Ill., West (9-0), downed 91-year cross-town rival Aurora East, 82-49

#3. Los Angeles, Westchester (7-0), advanced to semifinals at City of Palms Classic in Fort Myers, Fla.

#4. New York, Rice (2-0), big man Arturo Dubois two double-doubles last week

#5. Bronx, N.Y., St. Raymond (4-0), headlines field at upcoming Beach Ball Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

#6. Mount Vernon, N.Y. (4-1), only loss to No. 1 Oak Hill

#7. Los Angeles, Fairfax (6-1), took third place at Iolani

#8. Peoria, Ill., Central (7-0), upped win streak to 36 games

#9. Milwaukee, Rufus King (3-0), led by flashy G Dupree Fletcher

#10. Santa Ana, Calif., Mater Dei (10-1), only loss to No. 8 Peoria Central

#11. Arlington, Va., Bishop O'Connell (6-0), former NFL star Eric Metcalf is an alum

#12. Cedar Hill, Texas (14-0), also will compete at the Beach Ball Classic

#13. Rockville, Md., Montrose Christian (5-2), both losses to Top 10 teams

#14. Memphis, Tenn., White Station (8-0), four players average in double figures

#15. Maysville, Ky., Mason County (7-0), defending state champion

#16. Belleville, Ill., West (7-0), guard J.B. Jones is a returning all-state player

#17. Indianapolis, Lawrence North (7-0), average margin of victory is 20 points

#18. Detroit, Redford (3-0), state runner-up twice since 1997

#19. Jackson, Miss., Lanier (7-2), F Charles Rhodes is Mississippi State-bound

#20. Orlando, Fla., Edgewater (4-2), bolstered by return of F Kenny Ingram from football team

FEATS OF THE WEEK: Mouth of Wilson, Va., Oak Hill placed an exclamation point next to its No. 1 ranking by steamrolling an outstanding field at the Iolani Prep Classic in Honolulu. The Warriors earned surprisingly easy wins over No. 6 Mount Vernon, N.Y., 73-55, seventh-ranked Los Angeles, Fairfax, 78-55, and then-regionally ranked Orlando, Fla., Dr. Phillips, 78-51. Oak Hill has defeated six nationally or regionally ranked teams already this season. Coach Steve Smith's squad features six seniors who are Division I recruits, led by 6-foot-8 Indiana recruit Josh Smith, Louisville-bound power forward Brian Johnson and Syracuse verbal commitment forward Dayshawn Wright.

Jameson Curry of Mebane, Eastern Alamance broke the North Carolina career scoring record during a 41-point outburst in his team's 84-76 win over Andrews. Curry, who has verbally committed to play at North Carolina, has 2,779 career points and also holds state records for career 20-point games and 3-pointers,

Tyree Evans scored 51 points to lead regionally ranked Richmond, Va., George Wythe to an 81-78 win over state-ranked Chesterfield, L.C. Bird. Evans hit on seven consecutive 3-pointers as part of a 31-point first half.
