Thomas Talks About UL Signing

Carol City Defensive Back Simeon Thomas (6'3,180) was one of four very exciting athletes from Florida that signed with Louisiana's 2013 Class. Go inside the Cajun Redzone as Thomas talks about his decision to sign with the Ragin' Cajuns.

Simeon Thomas joined North Miami HS athlete and friend Troy McCollum in signing with Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns on National Signing Day. Thomas, a three-star and No.40 ranked safety by Scout.com finished his senior year with 35 tackles and two interceptions. He made his final decision to sign with Louisiana over offers from Hawaii, Syracuse, FIU, Florida State, Ole Miss and others. What helped Simeon Thomas make his final decision to become a Ragin' Cajun?

"I just loved the environment in the program," Thomas stated. "There is a lot of excitement around the program and Lafayette is a nice size town. They have great fan support and they made me feel like part of the family.

Thomas became good friends with fello UL signee Troy McCollum when both athletes had committed to Florida International last fall. They talked to each other down to the last minute before announcing the decision to sign with Louisiana.

"Troy and I are real close," Simeon mentioned. "We talked to each other all the time about schools and visits and when it came down to the last few days, we decided UL was the best place for us to play together.

Simeon Thomas decided to wait to tell his parents of his final decision until the final two days before National Signing Day.

"Yea, I waited to tell my parents until the last two days before Feb. 6th." Thomas said. "They were really supportive and excited for me that I made my final decision. They enjoyed the trip up to Louisiana and like the coaches; I made the best decision for me and my family."
