Duke named ACC Rookie of the Year

Freshman running back Duke Johnson was named ACC Rookie of the Year today.

Duke Johnson arrived at Miami this past summer as a five-star running back prospect. He was fresh off an outstanding prep career at Miami Norland High, where he helped the Vikings win a state championship in 2011.

It didn't take Johnson long to make a big impact for the Hurricanes, rushing for over 100 yards and a pair of scores at Boston College in the season opener.

Johnson went on to finish the season with over 1,000 yards of total offense while helping the Canes to a 7-5 record.

The league's coaches voted him the Rookie of the Year in the ACC. In addition, Johnson was named to the All-ACC second team at running back.
