Florida DT will visit U of L this week

Kyle Shortridge

Kyle Shortridge, a defensive tackle and former Purdue commitment from Florida, had an in-home visit from the University of Louisville on Tuesday and will make an official visit to campus on Friday. Cardinal Authority talked to Shortridge, who said he asked about the future of head coach Charlie Strong.

Defensive tackle Kyle Shortridge (Loxahatchee, Fla./Seminole Ridge High School) received an in-home visit from University of Louisville recruiting coordinator Clint Hurtt on Tuesday night.

On Friday, the 6-foot-3, 275-pound former Purdue commitment will make an official visit to Louisville.

"I am expecting a great college atmosphere," Shortridge said. "I will be there on Friday. Coach (Clint) Hurtt came by today for an in-home. It went good and Louisville is some place I could see myself for the next four or five years."

Despite all the rumors about the future of U of L head coach Charlie Strong, Shortridge said he's "not really worried about that." He said Hurtt told him that Strong is "not leaving" and he feels confident in the program.

"I don't think coach Strong is leaving," Shortridge said. "I am looking forward to getting up there and see what Louisville is like."

"I really like everything about the program and am very comfortable with all of the coaches. Louisville is my top (school) now."

Shortridge had been hearing from Michigan State and Iowa State but said he didn't have any other visits planed.

When asked if he might commit on the visit, Shortridge said there's "a big chance."
