Florida OL excited about future

Austin Bland is a standout offensive line prospect from St. Thomas Aquinas High in Florida and Scout caught up with him to discuss the latest.

Austin Bland is having a good time. He's helped lead his team to the third round of the state playoffs, and he has already committed to a full ride to a Division 1 program.

At 6-foot-3 and 275 pounds, Bland talked about it.

"Things are going pretty good," Bland said. "We're just trying to win another state championship."

Bland committed to FAU earlier this year and he remains very excited about that decision.

"Honestly I think they're doing great," he said. "Even though they only have three wins this year the main thing is that they're getting better. There were so many games were they were close to winning -- I think about three or four -- so it wasn't like their loses were blowouts."

Bland talked about the future of the FAU program.

"With this new coaching staff they really are stepping it up an changing the program around," he said. "What they need though is better recruits now. If we can start getting better recruits in the future, especially my class, I think we'll be even better team later in the future."
