Prospect Report: Sarasota, Largo, Booker, BR

Juwan Brown

SunStateFootball.com was in Sarasota County Friday for a pair of games. The first game was Largo at Sarasota, the Sailor's pulled out a 23-21 victory at home. The second game was Braden River at Booker where the visiting Pirate's won a key district contest 45-34. Here is how the prospects fared.

Sarasota

It was announced before the game that 2011 Running Back Desmond Hurley would be attending Navy. The 5'11, 210 pounder would seem to be a good fit for their rushing offense. He has not had a lot of help from the OL during his high school years and has had to make yards on his own. Quarterback Sean Hurley has the nickname "Thunder" and he runs hard. He has great size, but never developed as a passer. A pair of junior prospects to keep an eye on are athlete's Ladarius Wheeler and Leonard Rivers. Wheeler showed some speed in the return game while Rivers looked comfy at CB. The Booker has pretty good size there. This program will be getting a lot stronger over the next 3-5 years.

Largo

Raynor was a disruptive force on both sides of the ball

We went to watch 2013 athlete Juwan Brown, but he did not play due to injury. Brown is on the radar as one of the top prospects in his class. Largo had a host of talent starting with 2011 DE Adarious Raynor who played both ways. He has good size at 6-2, 250 and showed a fierce motor. He is rumored to be heading to the University of Colorado next year. 2012 LB Devin Porter caught our eye as a long athlete with some potential. He was active against the Sarasota rushing attack. A pair of freshmen- 2014 prospects look like they have bright futures. WR Raheem Murray made a sensational grab over a Sailor defender and jetted into the endzone; it was a great play by a young play-maker. RB Jarvis Stewart also was busy showing a nice blend of speed and athleticism. This program has been very successful the past 5-6 years and the future appears in capable hands.

Booker

We were disappointed to see that Casey Gross was not playing football anymore, he was a talented two-way linemen. Vinnie Davino was playing Offensive Line and he possesses significant upside. He needs to add weight, perhaps a lot of it, but he has the athleticism to do something down the road. Maurice Brooks was a little banged up at RB, the senior is having a solid season for the Tornadoes. 2012 WR Ricky Jones appears to be their top prospect. He has been the main weapon the past two years and possesses a keen understanding of the game as well as great speed and quickness. At 5'10-5'11 he could also project to CB. 2012 DB Ezra Robinson lined up at Safety, but he should be recruited for CB. He has great length at 5'11.

Braden River

The Pirate's are a physically imposing team due to a great weight training program. Senior RB Javar Baity is a load to bring down and could attract some interest down the stretch. 2012 CB Jordan Edwards did a nice job on the fleet Booker Wide Receiver core, he is skinny, but has the athleticism to get the job done.
